Map of Indonesian National Park |
Indonesian territory is a rich country in diversity of biological resources found both on land, sea or air. Diversity flora encouraged the researchers and nature lovers come to Indonesia to examine the flora. Indonesia have many rainforest.
- Distribution of Flora in Indonesia
Plants can grow naturally and there are also cultivated by humans. Flora or the world of plants in various places in the world certainly different, This is affected by several factors. These factors are as follows:
- Climate
- Type of soil
- High or low relief surface of the earth
- Biotic (living creature effects).
The existence of these factors, Indonesia have species diversity of plants. Climate has a profound effect, especially air temperature and rainfall. Areas that have high rainfall has dense forest and have more varied types of plants, for example: Sumatra and Borneo.
Areas that are relatively less rainfall does not have such dense forest in the Nusa Tenggara. This area there are many very large prairies called savannas and steppes.
Air temperature also affects the plants that can live in a place. Junghuhn has made zones (territory restrictions) plant in Indonesia as follows:
- Hot regions (0-650 meters), suitable plants in this area are coconut, rice, corn, sugarcane, rubber.
- Area is (650 - 1500 meters), suitable plants in this area are coffee, tobacco, tea, vegetables.
- Cool area (1500 - 2500 meters), suitable plants in this area are tea, vegetables, quinine, pine.
- Cold regions (above 2500 meters) there is no crop cultivation
Several types of flora in Indonesia are influenced by climate, They are as follows:
(a). Tropical Rain Forest, (b). Savanna, (c). Steppa, (d). Mangrove |
- Seasonal Forest, located in Indonesia which has a region of high temperatures and have different growth conditions in the rainy season and dry season. In the dry season the tree will wither and the rainy season will grow green again. Examples of seasonal forests are forests of teak and kapok. There are many seasonal forest in Central Java and East Java.
- Tropical Rain Forest, located in areas of high rainfall. Indonesian tropical climate and passed the equator so that Indonesia have year-round sunshine, high rainfall and high air temperatures. In Indonesia there is a tropical rain forest in Sumatra, Borneo, Celebes and Papua.
- Savanna, located in regions where rainfall slightly. Savanna is grassland interspersed with trees clustered. Savanna located in West Nusa Tenggara and East Nusa Tenggara.
- Steppa is very large prairie. Steppes are areas that have very little rainfall or low. Steppes located in East Nusa Tenggara, good for breeding.
- Mangrove forest is growing on the muddy shore. Mangrove forests are ready available at the coast of Papua, eastern of Sumatra, West Borneo and South Borneo.
So, after you read the post about floora in indonesia. It can be concluded that in Indonesia there are diversity type of plants. The number of plant species diversity in Indonesia Indonesia is also due to geographical location. Indonesia passed the equator and an archipelago so between the islands with one another have the different biodiversity
